After much discussion and training, La Misión, Ica (LAMA’s Mission in Ica Perú) became part of the YWAM global family of ministries. In 2018, when we joined, we were the 7th active YWAM site in Perú . As one of three Peru teaching bases, in 2025 we completed our 5th DTS/EDE since opening. If interested enroll here.
Youth with a Mission (YWAM) is also known as Juventud Con Una Misión (JCUM, JUCUM or JuCUM) in Spanish, JOCUM in Portuguese. You can check our ‘sister’ website at ywamica.org
We are currently working with YWAM, currently with a staff of from 5 to 10 (many ups and downs), we became a fully staffed YWAM/JuCUM site in 2018, catering primarily to:
Five (5) agrarian villages in walking distance to the mission (and a few more by car) that we outreach to.
Kings Kids children (ages 2-12) program with weekly bible based training, exercise and worship.
Creation of an active teen ministry (ages 13-19) where there is comfort and safety for youth of that age.
Total count of children and teens within our immediate reach, who have little opportunity to know Jesus, is about 2,400 !
Home Cell sites for bible study and/or discipleship training in family homes in community
After school secondary place for youth to do homework, find comradery, learn about Jesus, use the internet (supervised) and more

Construction assistance (Mercy Ministry) for needy homes (earthquake of 2007 still has it’s effect here, nearly two decades later)
Family counseling – work, children, finances, living together, apart, health issues, getting by, all are real issues that these villagers deal with as well.
Church – Active on site Pastor and church. As a mission, we are in parallel with YWAM's inter-denominational leanings, as we support, encourage and work with many churches in the area. However, until there is one in our remote village area, we offer Sunday worship and services for youth and adults.
Mercy Ministries - active food bank efforts for people so hunger is addressed for any of need. In 2025, we received 10 tonnes of food to distribute.
Elder people often need transportation, medicine, visits. Helping people in whatever needs they may have, is something that we look to do.
Music:
- We have full instruments and audio-video equipment if you would like to be part of our music ministry.
- Children are motivated to learn and perform, and we have church relations in Ica to take them to. All we need are more teachers who love them to do so.
- Active singing choral teaching and recruiting of the local children (and a few adults).
- Movie night, sports, activity initiation with local children, and more.
