Visit photo album on Facebook This small farming village that has been severely damaged by the 2007 & 2010 earthquakes has a lot of children and they have very little. What money their parents earn goes immediately to their food and utilities. There is little for them to do in the village other than to go to school during the week. We started to have a 'children’s outreach' first, March 13, but the kids were there 3 hours early and way too many ... So we rescheduled and counted on minimum chaos. Ha! When the next date came around, we were really getting stressed out with the sheer number of people but it was a 'good stress' if you know what I mean! ;-) Lots of fun, lots of needs but the lines far exceeded our supply on many items so we ended up having mini-raffles for different age groups. But no one went away empty handed. I only wish that we could take more items with us when we travel. We are looking into shipping ahead of our next trip, so please; help us make these children know they are loved. The most desired item, in all that we have given out, is a bible. They really don't have that many and they are very sought after. Being a Catholic country, they know 'of' Jesus so actually getting them to accept Him as their savior is not a hard task. Getting them to 'know' Him in their heart is the choir, challenge, task at hand. Our giving to their needs now and investing in the community for tomorrow says a lot to them.
